Monday - Focus - go over time zone Challenge, show class different types of maps, YouTube - key parts of maps (5 minutes), Homework - Map Skill and World View - (types of maps, parts of maps)
Tuesday - Focus - watch cnn.studentnews, go over map skills and world view worksheet,  Review basic map quiz on Wednesday
Wednesday - focus of quiz on basics of map and five themes, take quiz (15 - questions), start to work on physical map of Eastern Hemisphere, I will teach students how to develop a study map.
Thursday - Focus - Time Zone Math Warm-up and Review - 10 minutes, continue to work on physical map, Announce - Eastern Hemisphere Physical Map Quiz - Tuesday - October 8
Friday - Focus Question - What is Global Warming?  two to three sentence answer,  work on Earth's Changing Climate worksheet Do 1-5, Watch Engineering the Future ( discovery education.com - focuses on solutions for global warming)
Mrs. Western will be your substitute (be good)  I will be in East Lansing for the BCAM Conference.

Tuesday - Focus Questions - What are Time Zones? How many are there?, Article - Time Zones read together and discuss, finish Five Themes Project Presentations
Wednesday - Focus Question - What invention brought about time zones?, Powerpoint - Time Zones - takes notes, Thursday Quiz - Time Zones
Thursday - Study for Time Zone Quiz, Take Time Zone Quiz, Work on Time Zone Challenge as a class, homework - Time Zone Maps
Friday - read Daily Press for 7 to 10 minutes and write a summary of an article in your journal, review and collect homework (Time Zone Maps), watch video on Latitude and Longitude and Time Zones

Tuesday - collect climograph homework, watch 6 minute video review on the Five Themes of Geography, Go over instructions for Five Theme Poster Project,  start Five Themes Poster Project
Wednesday - Watch CNNStudent News,  work on Five Themes Project, Present Projects
Thursday - Take forty question Data Director Pre-test assessment, work on Five Themes Project
Friday - Journal - Summary from newspaper article (Daily Press will be provided) , finish Five Theme Poster Project Presentations

Monday - grade homework Malala the Powerful vocabulary sheet, short lecture and presentation - hemispheres, equator, prime meridian, four major oceans, homework -  Map Skills 3 and 4 Handout
Tuesday - Journal - List seven continents and Four major oceans, collect map skills homework, class will start Tear-A-Continent Project
Wednesday - finish Tear-A-Continent Project, Discuss Grid System with class, watch Discovering the World and Locating Places (discovery education.com), be ready for latitude and longitude quiz Thursday
Thursday - Focus - 5 minutes - study for latitude and longitude quiz, Review latitude and longitude, take quiz,  
Friday - Focus - watch CNN.student news, short lecture and demonstration on writing a summary (title, thesis statement, two factual sentences, date statement, opinion statement, conclusion), give students take home Latitude and Longitude Test - due Monday * students can work on it with their parents!  I want all As on this assignment.
